What will you need to study?

The equipment and resources you require may differ dependent on the level and subject that you study

Computer & Software

You will need access to a computer with an active internet connection in order to use the interactive learning resources on the Virtual Learning Studio, and other equipment and resources listed at the bottom of this page.

This can be either a Windows or Mac OS X based machine.

Operating SystemWindows 7 (minimum); Windows 10 (recommended), Mac OS X 10.10 (minimum); macOS 10.13 (recommended)
Processor64-bit Intel CPU (Intel Core Duo CPU, 2 GHz or faster recommended)
RAM4 GB (minimum); 8 GB (recommended)
Hard Drive12 GB free space (not including software installation)
Screen Resolution1024 x 768 or greater
BrowserLatest versions of: Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari (macOS)
Diploma StudentsAn office package, such as MS Office or OpenOffice; which includes a word processor, a spreadsheet application and a presentation application (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Although not required for the Diploma course AutoCAD is included Free to all NDA students.
Degree studentsA graphical editing application, such as Adobe Photoshop. A computer aided design application, such as Google SketchUp (free), AutoCAD (is included Free to all NDA students) or VectorWorks.

Design Equipment & Materials

In addition to your online study and use of computer software, students may/will also be required to complete work by hand. Please see below a list of recommended design equipment and materials needed for each NDA course subject.

All items are available as a ‘kit’ from the online NDA Art Shop, at student prices.

A Scale Rule with 1:10, 1:20, 1.50 and 1:100 scalesA3 Paper

Please visit the NDA online Art Shop which provides complete Professional Interior Design, Workroom Products and Technical drawing kits. These include the majority of equipment you will need to study each specific NDA course.
